[02.09.2025] Emilio Pérez talks on Onda Cero about the electronic nose, a new device that can distinguish smells
02.09.2025
Prof. Emilio Pérez, leader of the Low-Dimensional Materials Chemistry Group at IMDEA Nanociencia, spoke today on Onda Cero radio about a recent finding by his research group: an electronic nose that detects gases with unprecedented accuracy.
Researchers at IMDEA Nanoscience have designed sensors based on carbon nanotubes with extreme sensitivity and selectivity towards volatile organic compounds which, when assembled in a matrix, form layers capable of discriminating a specific analyte and functioning as an electronic nose, demonstrating in this proof-of-concept device the detection of ammonia, nitrogen oxide, isopropanol, acetone, and other chemical vapours in concentrations below 100 ppb. All the information about the study can be read here (link).
